Biogas quantification and characterization
Even if it has got the best cover and gas caption system, every landfill generates uncontrolled emissions; therefore the current regulation (Legislative Decree No36/2003) orders the quantification and characterization of diffused and conveyed biogas emissions in dumps. Monitoring is necessary to characterize these emissions and find every possible biogas leaks outside the dump before they become a risk. A correct and precise emissions characterization is crucial to optimize the development of biogas caption nets, guaranteeing the best extractive efficiency possible.

Landfills biogas production
We can consider landfills as anaerobic digesters that produce biogas from waste decomposition.
Almost the whole produced gas can be extracted using an optimized caption system. The biogas production can last for over 20 years after the dump closing: the chance to regain this biogas can surely represent a significant economic advantage.
